The 4th China Deep Sea Floating Wind Power Conference was successfully held in Yancheng.

On September 20-21,2024, Yancheng, on the banks of the Yellow Sea, ushered in another grand event in the field of marine energy- " The 4th China Deep Sea Floating Wind Power Conference. " The event attracted experts and scholars from all over the world in the field of offshore wind power, entrepreneurs, representatives of R & D institutions and so on, together witnessed the development of China 's far-reaching floating offshore wind power, and continued a new chapter in the development of marine energy.

The conference was co-sponsored by the National Engineering & Technology Research Center for Wind Power and the China Offshore Wind Association, affiliated to CAOE. Many high-level academic reports and round-table dialogues were staged at the meeting. From the innovative design of floating wind power platform to the detailed discussion of construction technology, from the stability research of mooring system to the in-depth analysis of wave load, each topic is closely related to the pulse of the industry, leading the trend of floating offshore wind power technology. The agenda gathers senior experts at home and abroad, shares the latest research results and practical experience, and provides valuable academic inspiration and technical guidance for participants. At the same time, the conference also actively promoted project docking and cooperation, and injected new vitality into the development of marine economy in Yancheng and even the whole country.

At the beginning of the meeting, Qi Congfeng, Vice Mayor of Yancheng Municipal People 's Government, delivered a speech. He warmly welcomed the arrival of the guests, and emphasized the important position of floating offshore wind power in the global energy transformation and the unique advantages of Yancheng in developing this industry. He reviewed the efforts and achievements of Yancheng City in promoting offshore wind power industry in recent years. He said that the future will further promote the development of offshore wind power industry, promote technological innovation and ecological protection, and contribute to the construction of a clean and low-carbon energy system.

He pointed out that with the continuous advancement of technology and the increasing maturity of the industrial chain, floating offshore wind power is gradually moving from the experimental stage to commercial application, and its huge development potential and contribution to society cannot be underestimated. At the same time, Chairman Cai Shaokuan also called on industry colleagues to continue to innovate, take into account economic benefits and ecological protection, and jointly promote the healthy and sustainable development of the floating offshore wind power industry.

The keynote speech session was hosted by Wang Tongguang, vice chairman of the Chinese Renewable Energy Society and chairman of the Wind Energy Professional Committee, and a professor at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The guest speakers contributed profound insights around the latest progress of floating wind power technology. Academician Ou Jinping of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, with his profound academic attainments, analyzed in detail the innovative design concept of the floating wind power FRP reinforced concrete platform and the cutting-edge technology of the adaptive mooring and anchoring foundation, providing solid theoretical support for the stability and high efficiency of the floating wind power platform. Li Weidong, secretary of the Party Committee and chairman of the Clean Energy Technology Research Institute Co., Ltd. of China Huaneng Group, starting from industrial practice, shared the research results of key technologies and equipment for deep-sea floating wind turbines, emphasizing the role of technological innovation in promoting industrial development. Shi Feng, deputy director of the New Energy Business Department of China Three Gorges Corporation, conducted in-depth discussions on the development logic of domestic floating offshore wind power and proposed practical development strategies. Hu Xiaofeng, executive dean of the New Energy Research Institute of the Hydropower and Water Resources Planning and Design General Institute, shared about the future development of deep-sea offshore wind power and analyzed the market prospects and trends. Henrik Stiesdal, CTO of Stiesdal A/S in Denmark, known as the "father of the modern wind power industry", brought an international perspective and shared the experience and prospects of industrialized floating offshore wind power, providing valuable international references for the participants. Finally, Li Hongtao, deputy director of the Offshore Engineering Technology Center of the China Classification Society, compared and analyzed the key technologies and specification standards of floating wind power foundations, providing an important reference for the formulation and improvement of industry standards.

In the thematic report session in the afternoon, under the professional leadership of Lu Zhongmin, deputy secretary-general of the Offshore Wind Power Branch of the China Association of Ocean Engineering Consultants and chief professional engineer of Shanghai Investigation, Design & Research Institute Co., Ltd., many experts contributed profound and insightful reports. Zhang Xiaoming, deputy chief engineer of the New Energy Engineering Design Institute of PowerChina Zhongnan Engineering Corporation Limited, deeply analyzed the latest breakthroughs in mooring systems in terms of design, materials, and processes, providing key technical support for improving the stability and safety of floating wind power platforms. Sun Zhaocai, director of the Offshore Engineering Center and director of the Technical Center of Guangzhou Salvage Bureau, shared "Research on Construction Technology of Deep-sea Offshore Wind Power", comprehensively introducing how to efficiently and safely complete the construction challenges of deep-sea wind power projects in complex marine environments, providing valuable practical guidelines for the industry. Tian Xinliang, a professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, presented an excellent report on "Research Progress in Physical Model Test Technology for Floating Wind Power Equipment". Through high-precision model experiments, he deeply explored the influence mechanism of wave loads on floating platforms, providing a solid experimental basis for the optimization of platform design. Xu Hongbo, chief expert of offshore mooring ropes of Zhejiang Four Brothers Rope Co., Ltd., shared "Application and Prospects of Chemical Fiber Ropes in the Mooring System of Floating Wind Power Platforms", and elaborated on the advantages, application cases and future development trends of chemical fiber ropes in the mooring system, providing new ideas and directions for material selection in mooring systems. Fan Tianhui, director of the Department of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering of South China University of Technology, focused on "Research on Key Technologies of Offshore Wind Power Floating Support Structure Systems", deeply analyzed the performance of support structures under extreme environmental conditions such as wind and waves, and proposed a number of innovative solutions, injecting new vitality into the development of floating wind power technology. In addition, Song Qiming, deputy chief engineer of Fujian Yongfu Power Engineering Co., Ltd., took "Design and Installation of Suction Anchor Foundations for Offshore Floating Wind Power" as the topic and deeply analyzed the design principles, construction processes and technical difficulties of suction anchor foundations, providing key technical guarantees for the smooth implementation of offshore floating wind power projects.



In the roundtable forum session of the conference, firstly, Zhai Endi, director of the National Wind Power Engineering Technology Research Center, made a guiding speech on the analysis of pain points in the design of floating offshore wind turbines, deeply analyzing the key technical pain points and difficulties currently faced by floating wind turbines and laying a solid foundation for the subsequent in-depth discussions. Subsequently, Wang Quande, general manager of Jiangsu Branch of Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. and deputy dean of the Frontier Technology Research Institute; Zhao Dawen, deputy chief engineer of Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group Co., Ltd.; Chen Rongquan, chief engineer of floating wind power technology of Mingyang Smart Energy Group Co., Ltd.; Zeng Yu, deputy dean of the Wind Power Research and Design Institute of Dongfang Electric Wind Power Co., Ltd.; Liu Bing, deputy general manager of the Tower Base Business Department of Envision Energy Co., Ltd.; Wen Maoshi, deputy dean of the research institute of CSSC Haizhuang Windpower Co., Ltd.; and Wang Dong, assistant general manager and general manager of the marketing and development center of Hunan Xinglan Wind Power Co., Ltd. launched in-depth discussions on the theme of "Development and Challenges of Deep-sea Offshore Wind Power", sharing valuable experiences and unique insights of their respective enterprises in floating wind power technology research and development, innovative practices, and market applications. The speeches covered multiple dimensions of floating wind power technology, comprehensively and deeply analyzed the industry status quo, and put forward forward-looking thoughts on the future development direction.

 

In the second round of discussions, the experts had a heated discussion on topics such as the technical route of floating wind power, cost reduction strategies, technology reference and international cooperation, industry alliances and cooperation mechanisms, integrated development with other marine energy sources, and the development trend of wind turbine capacity. Everyone unanimously believes that the future development of floating wind power technology will tend to coexist with greater standardization and diversification, and reducing costs and improving efficiency are the keys to achieving parity. At the same time, strengthening international cooperation and technological exchanges and establishing closer industry alliances and cooperation mechanisms are crucial for promoting the rapid development of floating wind power technology. Finally, the experts have high hopes for the development of China's floating offshore wind power.

 

At the end of the forum, Cai Shaokuan, president of the China Offshore Wind Association, affiliated to CAOE, gave an affectionate message. He not only summarized the fruitful results of the conference, but also looked forward to the broad prospects of China's deep-sea floating offshore wind power.
